HUBUNGAN KEBIASAAN MENGHAFAL ALQURAN DENGAN MEMORI JANGKA PENDEK SANTRI SMP ISLAM TERPADU IZZUDDIN PALEMBANG.
Short-term memory is a neurochemical process in the brain to encode, store, and retrieve information quickly. One of the good habits for improving memory is memorizing Quran. Memorizing Quran is an activity of the short-term memory involving four aspects, (1) learning, (2) memory formation, (3) memory retention, and (4) the ability to access memory. This study aims to analyze the relationship between habits of memorizing Quran and short-term memory of students at Izzuddin Integrated Islamic Middle School Palembang. This type of research was analytic observational with a cross-sectional design, which was carried out in 27th October 2022. The samples obtained 79 students and 63 students were taken according to the method using stratified proportional random sampling technique. The data containing the habit of memorizing Quran was taken from book which was usually filled in by the teacher who received students' recitation. The test conducted to measure short-term memory is forward digit span test. The data that has been obtained was carried out through Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test and statistically analyzed by Spearman-Rho test using SPSS program. Based on Spearman-Rho statistical test, this study obtained significant results with positive direction and the relationship between the variables quite strong (p=0.038; r=0.263). The higher habit of memorizing the Quran, the higher short-term memory ability of Students From Izzuddin Integrated Islamic Junior High School.
