The level of knowledge and awareness of animal owners about zoonotic infections can influence the severity and risk of transmission caused by zoonoses. Dermatophytosis in cats is often not considered important by cat owners and is wrongly treated. This causes the risk of disease transmission to be higher. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge and personal hygiene practices and the appearance of symptoms of dermatophytosis in cat owners who visit the animal hospital in South Sumatra Province in December 2022. This type of research is analytic with a cross-sectional approach. Respondent samples were taken by purposive sampling, so 262 respondents were obtained. The results of this study showed that the variable number of cats owned with the appearance of dermatophytosis symptoms was at a significant level with p-value = 0.039, knowledge of dermatophytosis with the appearance of dermatophytosis symptoms at a significant level with p-value = 0.000 and cage sanitation with the appearance of dermatophytosis symptoms at a significant level with p -value=0.043. And the variable personal hygiene with the emergence of symptoms of dermatophytosis (p-value = 398). Practice of keeping cats with dermatophytosis symptoms (p-value=625). It can be concluded that there is a relationship between number of cats owned, knowledge of dermatophytosis, cage sanitation with the appearance of dermatophytosis symptoms and that there is no significant relationship between personal hygiene practices and cat-raising practices with the appearance of dermatophytosis symptoms.
