Background : Muara Enim Regency is one of the malaria endemic districts in South Sumatra Province withThe most open material mining locations are in the villages of Tanjung Agung, Tanjung Lalang and Penyandingan. Method: This research is descriptive analytic with cross sectional study method. Sampling technique using purposive sampling in three villages namely Tanjung Agung, Tanjung Lalang and Penyandingan. Results: Bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between education (p-value 0.091), knowledge (p-value 0.028), behavior (p-value 0.028), the condition of the walls of the house (p-value 0.068) and the condition of the floor of the house (p-value 0.073) with the incidence of malaria in mining workers in Tanjung Agung District, Muara Enim Regency. The results of multivariate analysis showed that the most dominant risk factor was knowledge (p-value 0.039) and prevalence ratio (PR) 0.1. Conclusion: Knowledge is the dominant risk factor for the incidence of malaria in mining workers in Tanjung Agung District, Muara Enim Regency. For this reason, it is necessary to carry out preventive and promotive efforts on the mining population regarding awareness and understanding of malaria prevention as a malaria elimination step.
