Monitoring the growth and development of toddlers is very necessary in the context of early detection of stunting and is included in one of the Posyandu activities. Early detection of stunting in children under two years old requires an active role from posyandu cadres, especially during the Covid 19 pandemic where empowerment of posyandu cadres did not work, so this research was carried out. The aim is to explain the efforts to empower posyandu cadres in early detection of stunting in children under the age of five in Mestong District Method. This study uses qualitative methods through indept interview data collection, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), document review and observations aimed at analyzing the empowerment of posyandu cadres in early detection of stunting in children under the age of five in Mestong District. The results of this study indicate that the Stimulus component of the empowerment of posyandu cadres in the implementation of stunting early detection in Mestong District, namely increasing knowledge and increasing skills of posyandu cadres has not gone well, the completeness of facilities and infrastructure in carrying out stunting early detection is still incomplete and meets the standards of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, does not there is a special fund for posyandu cadres in carrying out early detection of stunting. The Organism component, namely the Posyandu Cadre, has an interest in implementing early stunting detection, but the Posyandu Cadre does not yet have a good understanding of stunting early detection itself. Posyandu cadres accept their duties in carrying out stunting early detection in Mestong District. The resulting Response component, namely posyandu cadres, has not been empowered to carry out early detection of stunting in Mestong District. The conclusion of efforts to increase the empowerment of Posyandu Cadres in early detection of stunting in Mestong District includes three components, namely the stimulus given to the cadres is not good, the organism, namely the cadres themselves, already have the knowledge and skills but are not maximal about stunting early detection & response. early detection of stunting but not optimal in Mestong District.
