ABSTRACT Stunting is one of the problems of nutritional status in terms of shorter height than other people of the same age. The high prevalence of stunting in the world and in Indonesia recently has caused stunting to get a lot of attention as a problem of chronic malnutrition in the form of short children. Based on the results of the Indonesian Nutrition Status Study (SSGI) in 2021, the national stunting rate decreased by 1.6 percent per year from 27.7 percent in 2019 to 24.4 percent in 2021, but the achievement is still high compared to the national target of 14% decrease instuntung prevalence by the and of 2024.This study uses a cross- sectional approach. The location of the research was carried out at the Tampino Health Center and Pondok Table Health Center, Mastong District. The time of this research was carried out in March 2022. A total of 93 respondents were mothers with toddlers. Data was collected using a questionnaire and then analyzed by univariate, bivariate and multivariate using the che-square test.Based on the results of the study, it was found that the characteristic variable (mother's education) had a relationship with the incidence of stunting in children under five in Muaro Jambi Regency, the characteristic variable (father's education) had a relationship with the incidence of stunting in children under five in Muaro Jambi Regency, the characteristic variable ( Mother's occupation) has a relationship with the incidence of stunting in children under five in Muaro Jambi Regency, the characteristic variable (Family Income) has a relationship with the incidence of stunting in children under five in Muaro Jambi Regency, and the Family Role variable has a relationship with the incidence of stunting in children under five. in Muaro Jambi Regency.It can be concluded that the results of bivariate selection of 5 independent variables that have the closest relationship with the incidence of stunting is the role of the family because it has a significant < 0.25.Suggestions in this study provide information to the public about the factors that can affect the incidence of stunting and efforts to manage early detection, so as to minimize the occurrence of stunting which is influenced by the role of the family
