Children are the hope of the nation that must be protected, especially children with HIV/AIDS (ADHA) who receive special protection. As a result of HIV infection experienced by ADHA makes them at risk for behavioral disorders. The purpose of this study was to see how the risk of behavioral disorders in HIV positive children compared with HIV negative children. This study was an observational study with a case-control study design and a total sample of 65 with 13 cases and 52 controls. Cases are HIV positive children aged 2-18 and domiciled in South Sumatra. Controls are HIV negative children, domiciled in South Sumatra and are neighbors or live in the same area as the case. The data sources consist of primary data from interviews using questionnaires. The results of the study based on the SDQ (Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire) that the difficulty value of HIV positive children was more at risk for behavioral disorders, namely 9 children (69.2%) when compared to the HIV negative group of 14 children (26.9%), with a scale of emotional problems in HIV positive children 9 children (69.4%) and HIV negative children 14 children (35.4%); behavioral problems in HIV positive 5 children (38.5%) and 18 HIV negative children (34.6%); hyperactivity in both HIV positive and negative children 4 (30.8%); peer problems in 10 HIV positive children (76.9%) and 26 HIV negative children (50%). The conclusion in this study is based on the difficulty value of HIV positive children who are more at risk of experiencing behavioral disorders than HIV negative children. Thus, the need for synergy for each level of health services in monitoring the health of HIV positive children.
