NUTRITION FACULTY OF PUBLIC HEALTH SRIWIJAYA UNIVERSITY Thesis, June 2022 Mey Zahara Khairunissa ; Supervised by Yuliarti, S.KM., M.Gizi Factors Affecting the Compliance of Young Women Consuming Blood-Adding Tablets in SMA and SMK Muhammadiyah Pagar Alam City in 2021 ABSTRACT Background: Anemia is a condition where there is a decrease in hemoglobin levels. Some of the risk factors that can cause anemia are low consumption of blood-added tablets, low iron absorption, and lack of knowledge about anemia and blood-added tablets. Objective: This study was to determine the factors that influence the adherence of adolescent girls to consume blood-added tablets in SMA and SMK Muhammadiyah Pagar Alam City. Methods: This research is a descriptive analytic study using quantitative methods with a cross sectional approach. The sample of this research is young women, amounting to 75 people. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. Results: the study showed that the dominant level of knowledge, namely, less than 48 respondents (64%) there was a relationship between the level of knowledge and adherence to the consumption of blood-added tablets with a value (p-value 0.002), for the most dominating attitude variable, namely, a negative attitude of 40 respondents (53.3%) and there is a significant relationship between attitudes and adherence to the consumption of blood- added tablets with a value (p-value 0.001), and parental support is dominating, namely, less supportive 44 respondents (58.7%) there is a significant relationship between parental support and adherence to the consumption of blood-added tablets with a value (p-value 0.018). Conclusion: this study can be concluded that the better the level of knowledge and parental support of adolescent girls towards anemia and blood-added tablets, the more obedient young women are to consuming blood-added tablets and the worse the attitudes of young women towards anemia and blood-added tablets, the more disobedient young women are. taking blood-boosting tablets. Suggestion: the research should be expected by schools to provide counseling to adolescent girls and their parents about anemia and blood-added tablets regularly by involving health workers at the Puskesmas and giving blood-added tablets regularly to prevent anemia in adolescent girls.
