Exclusive breastfeeding is a breastfeeding without additional food until the baby is 6 months old. Socio-culture is a factor that plays a role in the formation of people's mindsets. The purpose of this study is to determine the socio-cultural description associated with exclusive breastfeeding in Muara Pinang Village, Empat Lawang Regency. A descriptive research with a qualitative approach is carried out by means of in-depth interviews and observation. The results show that cultural factors are still the root cause of the failure of exclusive breastfeeding in Muara Pinang Village, Empat Lawang Regency. The people of Empat Lawang still adhere to beliefs and myths related to exclusive breastfeeding so that babies are given food and drink before they are 6 months old. The people of Muara Pinang Village, Empat Lawang Regency, still have food taboos, especially food taboos on breastfeeding mothers and myths that are contrary to health. In addition, the absence of support from the family to provide exclusive breastfeeding.
