KELIMPAHAN DAN KEANEKARAGAMAN SPESIES ARTROPODA PENYERBUK SELAMA SATU MUSIM TANAM JAGUNG (Zea mays) DI INDRALAYA, OGAN ILIR.
Sweet corn (Zea mays) is an important cereal food crop that is widely cultivated in the world and its production amount can exceed other cereal crops. The need for corn continues to increase along with the use of corn as a food, feed, or industry. The pollination process in flowering plants such as corn is almost 67% pollinated by pollinating insects or also known as pollinator insects. This research has been carried out in three land locations in Indralaya District including Tanjung Seteko Village, and two land locations in Tanjung Pering Village. This study used the census method by observing pollinating arthropods in corn plants and the sampling method with a diagonal sampling pattern of 5 sampling points in the entire planting area by calculating the population of pollinating insects from the vegetative phase to the generative phase of corn plants. The arthropods obtained are then calculated and documented at the Entomology Laboratory, Department of Pests and Plant Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. Observations were made during one corn growing season in three research fields. The results showed that 13 pollinator arthropod speseis were found including 6 species of the order Hymenoptera, 2 species of the order Lepidoptera, 2 species of the order Araneae, 1 order Coleoptera, 1 order Diptera, and 1 order Hemiptera. Pollinator arthropod species are Heterotrigona itama , Ropalidia fasciata, Tetragonula laeviceps, Apis dorsata, Apis andreniformis, Apis cerana, Coccinela transversalis, Oxyopes javanus, Syrphus opinator, Bothorogonia fasciata, Amata huebneri, Junonia arithya, and one species belonging to the family salticidae . The highest abundance of pollinating arthropods is at the Tanjung Seteko location with a total of 245 insects, Tanjung Pering 1 with a total of 232, and the lowest at the Tanjung Pering 2 location with a total of 211 insects. Corn plants surrounded by diverse horticultural vegetation and plus the presence of weeds affect the presence of pollinating arthropods, the more vegetation around corn plantings, the more diverse pollinator arthropods are found.
