AKTIVITAS LARVASIDA JAMUR ENTOMOPATOGEN YANG DIISOLASI DARI SERANGGA ASAL SUMATERA SELATAN YANG DIAPLIKASIKAN SECARA TOPIKAL PADA Spodoptera frugiperda
Spodoptera frugiperda is an important pest for corn plants which can cause high losses and become a problem in maize agriculture in the world. S. frugiperda attacks maize in the generative and vegetative phases which can be detrimental economically. One good control in reducing the population of S. frugiperda is to use entomopathogenic fungi. Entomopathogenic fungi can be used as larvicides that are able to control S. frugiperda larvae, entomopathogenic fungi can parasitize into the host's body and have great potential in controlling S. frugiperda but many still don't know about it. Therefore, In this study, the aim was to observe the effect of the larvicidal activity of entomopathogenic fungi from insects on the mortality and development of S. frugiperda. This study used a topical test method on first instar S. frugiperda larvae, and used a completely randomized design (CRD) repeated three times with 1 control and 15 isolates, namely JGTP240521B, JGTS240521, JGMA260521, JGBP260521A, JGPB260521B, JGTB280521A, JGTB280521B, JGSR300521, JGCJ300521A, JGCJ300521B, JGND300521, JGMS160621, JGST160621, JGMH170621, and WTTJC290621C were then observed for 18 days. The variables observed included the influence of entomopathogenic fungi on mortality, food preferences, body weight and dung weight of S. frugiperda larvae. The results in this study on the fifteen entomopathogenic mushroom isolates microscopically had different morphological structural characteristics of the fungus. The entomopathogenic fungus that had the highest pathogenicity in controlling S. frugiperda larvae was JGTP240521B with a mortality of 64.00% and the shortest LT50 and LT95 of 13.60 days and 26.78 days showing symptoms of infection. The larvae were dead, dry, stiff, mummified and their bodies were covered with mycelium. In this study, fifteen isolated of entomopathogenic fungi were proven to reduce the population of S. frugiperda larvae. The conclusion in this study is that of fifteen entomopathogenic fungal isolates that have the ability to infect and kill in order to reduce the larval population with the highest pathogenicity in isolate JGTP240521B with a mortality of 64.00%.
