Ganoderma boninense is a pathogen that causes stem rot disease in oil palm plants which must be controlled, either using fungicides or using plant rhizome extracts which have antifungal properties. The aims of this study were 1) to determine the efficacy of turmeric extract formulations and pure turmeric extract in suppressing G. boninense in vitro and 2) to determine the effect of concentrations of turmeric extract formulations in the treatment of early infection and late infection of butt rot disease in oil palm seedlings. This research was carried out in vitro and in planta in a greenhouse and phytopathology laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University starting from June to November 2022. The in vitro test was arranged according to a completely randomized design with four treatments and five replications. The treatment used was pure turmeric extract concentration of 5%, 2.5%, 1.25% and control, whereas in the formulation of turmeric extract mixed with tannins using a concentration of 2.5% (equivalent to pure turmeric extract 0.75%), 0, 25%, 0.1% hexaconazole fungicide and control treatment. The in planta test was arranged according to a randomized block design with four treatments and seven groups on oil palm seedlings with early infection and advanced infection using four treatments and five groups. The treatment used was turmeric extract formulation with a concentration of 2.5%, 0.25%, 0.1% hexaconazole fungicide and control. The results showed that 5% concentration of pure turmeric extract caused 86.3% colony inhibition. The formulation containing tannins and turmeric extract at a concentration of 2.5% caused 37.3% colony inhibition. Initial and late infection in planta tests showed that the 2.5% and 0.25% turmeric extract formulations were able to reduce the intensity of disease attacks by 30-42%, which was greater than the inhibition in the in vitro test and provided better oil palm seedling growth results. better than control and fungicide. Keywords: Ganoderma boninense, palm oil, turmeric extract
