PENGARUH pH AIR BERBEDA TERHADAP TINGKAT STRES, ABNORMALITAS DAN PERTUMBUHAN BENIH IKAN TAMBAKAN (HELOSTOMA TEMMINCKII).
Kissing gourami (Helostoma temminckii) is a freshwater fish from Southeast Asia's tropics. Those fish live within the water that may be affected by the water quality, especially pH. This study aimed to determine the fish abnormality and level of stress at different water pH on the growth of kissing gourami (Helostoma temminckii). This research was conducted at the Fisheries Basic Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program, Department of Fisheries, Faculty of Agriculture, University Sriwijaya, from May to June 2022. This study used a completely randomized design consisting of four treatments and three replications. The treatments were different pH, namely (P1) 3±0.5, (P2) 5±0.5, (P3) 7±0.5, (P4) 9±0.5. The result showed that the highest value of 6.94% of abnormality was in treatment P1 (pH 3±0.5). The highest blood glucose consecutively per week was 94.33, 214.00, 69.33, 52.67 mg dL-1 at treatment P1, the percentage of survival, absolute weight growth, and the highest feed efficiency in the P3 treatment (pH 7±0.5) was 87.50%, 0.42 g, and 15.65 g. In contrast, the absolute length growth was not significantly different for each treatment. During the rearing, water temperature ranged from 26.4 – 28.9oC and dissolved oxygen was 4.05 – 5.19 mg L-1. Thus, it can be concluded that the pH treatment of water 7±0.5 is optimal for kissing gourami.
