SUBSTITUSI TEPUNG DEDAK DENGAN TEPUNG KULIT PISANG KEPOK (Musa acuminate balbisiana colla) YANG DIFERMENTASI UNTUK PAKAN IKAN PATIN (Pangasius hypopthalmus).
The availability of rice bran flour in the manufacture of feed still follows the rice harvest season, so alternative materials are needed as substitute for rice bran. The use of alternative materials that have the same coarse protein content as rice bran flour can be obtained from kepok banana peels. To increase the protein content of the kepok banana peel, a fermentation process is needed. This research was conducted to utilize kepok banana peel waste as an alternative material to substitute rice bran flour in fish feed as an effort to reduce cultivation costs, as well as to test the percentage of fermented kepok banana flour differently on growth and efficiency of catfish feed. This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Aquaculture and Experimental Ponds, Department of Fisheries, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University and the proximate test was carried out at the Laboratory of Fish Nutrition, Department of Aquaculture, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, Bogor Agricultural University. The catfish used was 5±0.5 cm. The given feed contained fermented kepok banana peel flour with different percentage formulated, namely: P0 (0%), P1 (5%), P2 (10%), P3 (15%), and P4 (20%). Catfish were nurtured in an aquarium equipped with a series of aeration. Parameters observed included: absolute growth, feed efficiency, protein efficiency ratio, survival, and water quality. The method used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with five treatments and three replications. The results of this study showed that giving feed with additional 20% fermented kepok banana peel flour gave the highest growth and feed efficiency, namely 1.14 g, 2.01 cm, and 39.97% feed efficiency.
