KARAKTERISTIK DAN AKUMULASI SEDIMEN TAMBAK IKAN BANDENG DI BANYUASIN, SUMATERA SELATAN.
Ponds are permanent or seasonal water bodies that form naturally or artificially on land with a less porous soil layer. The thing that usually becomes a problem in the cultivation of fish and shrimp is declining water quality due to a lack of soil quality management. This research was conducted from December 2021 to March 2022 in one of the ponds in Banyuasin, Banyuasin II, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatera, to know the characteristics and accumulation of sediments in milkfish ponds. Sediment characteristics were identified in the Soil Laboratory, Universitas Sriwijaya. This research found that the soil texture in the pond was sandy loam. Soil organic matter in each pond was classified as high, with an average value ranging from 7.08% - 14.15%. The test results for iron content were classified as moderately high in each pond, with the average value around 2.28 mg kg-1 – 42.12 mg kg-1, causing the pH to decrease with an average value of 3.38 – 4.63. Meanwhile, the calcium content was classified as medium, with the average value of calcium around 4.81 Cmol kg-1 – 9.91 Cmol kg-1 and magnesium 0.96 Cmol kg-1 – 3.09 Cool kg-1. The sediment accumulated in each pond was very high, which is 12.14 cm per year – 22.86 cm per year, so it is necessary to manage the quality of pond soil at the research location.
