The purpose of this research was to evaluate the suitability of land for elephant foot yam plant in Mulyo Rejo, Sungai Lilin, Musi Banyuasin District, and provide suggestions for improving management based on the current level of elephant foot yam plant land suitability. This research was conducted on elephant foot yam plant land in Mulyo Rejo, Sungai Lilin, Musi Banyuasin District. Soil analysis was carried out at the Chemistry, Biology and Soil Fertility Laboratory, Department of Soil, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. This research was conducted from February to March 2022. The method used in this research is a survey method at the level of detail. One point of observation and soil sampling represents 1 ha of research land. The research location is 10 ha, so that from the entire research area there are 10 observation points. Soil samples were taken to a depth of 30 cm for laboratory analysis which at each point was taken compositely, from 5 points including the main point. The soil characteristics analyzed in the laboratory were texture and nutrient retention (pH, CEC and C-organic). The results showed that the actual suitability for elephant foot yam plant research is S3-fw (not suitable for limiting factors for nutrient retention and water availability) which is covered 10 ha. Potential land suitability for elephant foot yam plant at the study area can reach S1 (highly suitable) if to overcome the factor limiting nutrient retention (pH, CEC and C-organic) and the limiting factor of water availability (rainfall) remains S3 (not suitable) for elephant foot yam plants.
