One of food crop commodities in Indonesia is rice production is still a staple food. Corn is a food source in the world after rice and wheat. Rice and corn are food crops that have problem such as pests and diseases that attack on field. One of the environmentally controls is utilizing natural enemies, namely predators that can prey on insect pests on agricultural land. Spiders are one of the important predators in controlling insect pest populations in rice and maize ecosystems. This research was carried out in two different locations, namely Sungai Lebung village and Tanjung Pering village. Observation of the diversity of spiders using the direct observation method. Sampling by making pitfall trap and direct observation, with a diagonal sampling technique consisting of 5 sub plot. Observation were made at 07.00-09.00 WIB and continued with the installation of pitfall trap which were left for 2 days (48 hours). The samples obtained were then identified at the Entomology Laboratory of the Plant Protection Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. The result of this study showed that spiders found on rice plants consisted of 20 species from 6 families, namely the families Araneidae, Salticidaa, Tetragnathidae, Oxyopidae, Lycosidae, and Thomisidae. While the spiders on the surface of the rice plant consist of 2 spicies and 1 family, namely Lycosidae. In maize, 13 species and families were obtained, namely, Araneidae, Salticidae, Oxyopidae, Thomisdae, Tetragnathidae, and Theridiidae. While the spiders on the ground surface of the corn plant consist of 6 species from 3 family namely, Lycosidae, Salticidae, and Oxyopidae. The index of diversity in rice plants was 1,92 H’ and 1,87 H’ in maize. Dominance index in rice plants is 0,21 and corn is 0,23. While the rice evenness and corn 0,76 H’. Dominance index in rice plants 0,64 and corn 0,56. While the evenness index of rice is 0,87 and corn is 0,36.
