PENGARUH VARIASI HOLDING TIME PADA PROSES NORMALIZING TERHADAP NILAI KEKERASAN BAJA ST 37
Normalizing is the process of heating steel to the austenite phase, and cooling it in open air to 27°C. Thus causing the structure in the material to change initially due to loading. In this study, st 37 steel specimens were used. The aim of this study was to observe the effect of variations in holding time in the normalizing process. The holding time used is 20 minutes, 30 minutes and 45 minutes with a temperature of 900 ℃. After normalizing, the specimen is then tested for hardness using a Vickers hardness testing machine. From this test, the hardness value of the pure specimen was obtained, namely 261.83 Kgf/mm2. The highest hardness value in the normalized specimen was 186.28 Kgf/mm2 at 20 minutes, 188.05 Kgf/mm2 at 30 minutes and 184.98 Kgf/mm2 at 45 minutes. The longer the holding time given will further affect the level of hardness in the specimen.
