This study discusses "The Community Efforts of Street Literacy Friends in Increasing Children's Interest in Reading in the City of Palembang". The purpose of this study was to identify and analyze the efforts of the Street Literacy Sobat Community in increasing children's reading interest in the city of Palembang and to identify and analyze the obstacles faced by the Street Literacy Sobat Community in increasing children's reading interest in the city of Palembang. The research approach uses descriptive qualitative methods. Interviews were conducted on the main informants consisting of the chairman, deputy, secretary, treasurer, several members of the book manager, as well as supporting informants consisting of parents of the selected children and local residents. The results show that the efforts of the Street Literacy Buddy community in increasing children's reading interest in the city of Palembang are holding book stalls at TVRI Park and Kambang Iwak. Apart from book stalls (reading gardens), Street Literacy Sobat also carries out other art activities to attract more attention in encouraging reading habits. The efforts of the Street Literacy Buddy community in increasing interest in reading have a positive impact on children who have been given education, namely children's knowledge is wider, the environment where children live is closer to books, children can easily get reading books, and children's reading intensity is better than previously. The obstacles faced by the Street Literacy Buddy community in increasing children's interest in reading in the city of Palembang are internal factors, namely limited funds, difficulty in getting some books and limited working time for community members, as well as from external factors influenced by the habits of children who prefer to play gadgets than reading books, some children are stubborn when given education in reading.
