This study examines the survival strategies of swamp farmers during the rainy season in Muara Baru Village, Pemulutan District, Ogan Ilir Regency. The purpose of this study was to find out how the strategy of survival of the Lebak swamp farmers in meeting their daily needs when the land was flooded. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques used by researchers are observation, interviews and documentation. This study used namely the theory of survival mechanisms from James C. Scott. The result of this study indicate that the farmers’ strategy in Muara Baru Village is to apply Scott’s three concept, namely by doing: 1) tie the belt tighter, by reducing food consumption or saving on food shopping, 2) looking for alternative subsistence, such as looking for another job, 3) and looking for relationships or social networks, such as asking neighbors or relatives for help when experiencing difficulties.
