PERBEDAAN FRIKSI KAWAT STAINLESS STEEL DAN NIKEL-TITANIUM DENGAN PENGARUH FLUORIDE (SYSTEMATIC REVIEW)
Background: Wires that are often used in orthodontic treatment are stainless steel and nickel-titanium wire. When there is teeth movement, there will be friction between the components of fixed orthodontic appliance. If the wire is corroded, the friction will increase. The use of fluoride in mouthwash and toothpaste is widely used in orthodontic treatment patients. Objective: The aim of this systematic review is to determine the difference of friction between stainless steel and nickel-titanium wires under the influence of fluoride. Method: This study used systematic review method with qualitive analysis. Results: This study succeeded in synthesizing 10 true experimental in-vitro research journals with high bias results. All journals in this study stated that fluoride had an effect on increasing friction in stainless steel and nickel-titanium wire. The occurrence of friction on nickel-titanium wire is higher than stainless steel wire. Conclusion: Friction on orthodontic wires can be affected by fluoride (mouthwash, toothpaste, and topical fluoride), causing increased friction. Keywords: sliding mechanics, friction, stainless steel, nickel-titanium, fluoride, systematic review
