PENGETAHUAN DOKTER GIGI MENGENAI LESI ORAL POTENTIALLY MALIGNANT DISEASES (OPMDs) (Studi pada Fasilitas Kesehatan Tingkat Pertama Kota Palembang)
Backgrounds: Oral cancer is one of the ten most common types of cancer in humans. The incidence of oral cancer in Indonesia is 1.5-5% of all cancer cases. Oral cancer is usually preceded by Oral Potentially Malignant Diseases (OPMDs). The knowledge and attitude of the dentists are essential in the prevention and early diagnosis of OPMDs. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between sociodemography and the knowledge level and attitudes of dentists in Palembang city regarding OPMDs, especially those who practice in primary health care. Methods: An analytical observational cross-sectional study design were used. 75 respondents that were practicing at primary health care in Palembang city were tested. 30 close-ended questionnaires were used and filled via google form. The data were analyzed using the chi-square test. Results: 65.3% and 34.7% of the study respondents had a good knowledge and dentist attitude of OPMDs. The results of the chi-square test (p> 0.05) showed no significant relationship. Conclusion: Dentists in Palembang city have a good level of knowledge and attitude categories. There is no significant relationship among sociodemography, the level of knowledge and attitude of dentists in Palembang city toward OPMDs. Keywords : Attitude, knowledge, potential maligant
