Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by symmetrical polyarthritis. The advanced stage of RA can make the patients unable to carry out daily activities that caused the decrease of their quality of life. Disease activity can be a trigger for functional disability and joint damage in RA patients. Inflammatory conditions and infectious conditions can cause psychological disorders in RA patients which can affect the patient's activities. In the mild stage, there is psychological stress that causes anxiety and depression. The prevalence of that condition may increase at the severe stage. Method: This research is an observational analytic study with a Mann-Whitney design using primary data and secondary data. Data were taken through questionnaires and medical records with a sample of 43 people who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis was performed using the Mann-Whitney test. Results: In this study, the results showed that patients with moderate and severe disease activity were 81.3% and patients with mild and moderate depression were 74.4% out of all samples. There is a statistically significant relationship between disease activity and the level of depression with a p-value of 0.008.
