Background. Musculoskeletal injuries are injuries that often occur in Indonesia. Cases of musculoskeletal injuries cause high mortality and disability. South Sumatra is one of the provinces with the largest population in Indonesia. Due to the high incidence of musculoskeletal injuries that cause disorders and death, adequate health facilities are needed to reduce the risk of disability and death due to injuries. This study aims to determine the sociodemographic characteristics and trauma characteristics of patients with musculoskeletal injuries who come to the emergency room at Siti Fatimah Hospital, South Sumatra Province, July 2020-June 2022 Method. This study used a descriptive observational research type by observing secondary data, namely the medical records of patients with musculoskeletal injuries in the emergency room of Siti Fatimah Hospital, South Sumatra Province. Results. The results of this study found 241 patients with sociodemographic characteristics of patients with musculoskeletal injuries, the majority aged 17-25 years (21.2%) and the majority were male (70.1%). the majority of patients came from Palembang (63.2%). The most frequently affected anatomic site is the manus area. The most common cause of musculoskeletal injuries is domestic accidents (45.6%). The most common type of trauma was blunt trauma (76.8%). the majority of patients coming to the emergency room took >180 minutes (39.8%). While The majority of patients stay in the ER for < 4 hours (74.7%). After receiving treatment in the emergency room, the majority of patients can be discharged (49.8%). Conclusion. Patients with musculoskeletal injuries who come to the emergency room at Siti Fatimah Hospital, South Sumatra Province for the period July 2020-June 2022 have characteristics that are dominated by young people, the majority of injuries occur in the manus area.
