The Digital Tracking Equipment System (DiTES) application is an easy form of a mailing service system that exists as an application which can provide information to private universities in the South Sumatra, Bengkulu, Lampung and Bangka Belitung regions at any time. The latest digital-based application by the Higher Education Service Institute (DIKTI) Region II Palembang which will be released in 2021. In a fairly short period of time, namely 1 year, the DiTES application has successfully received a good response from all private tertiary institutions. The success of receiving this new innovation is inseparable from the innovation diffusion process carried out by the Region II Palembang Higher Education Service Institution (DIKTI) which has the goal of improving the quality of tertiary services. This study aims to determine the processes and communication channels that are carried out by the Higher Education Service Institution (DIKTI) Region II Palembang to private universities, especially in the South Sumatra region. Through qualitative methods, this study uses the theory of Diffusion of Innovation by Everett M. Rogers and uses data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation and documentation studies. In this study, it was found that the Innovation Diffusion process carried out by the Higher Education Service Institute (DIKTI) Region II Palembang had fulfilled the elements of communication and was carried out well, including Innovation, Communication Channels, Timeframe and Social Systems. However, the element of innovation has not been implemented optimally, namely the large number of applications in DIKTI.
