PERBEDAAN TINGKAT DEPRESI LANSIA YANG TINGGAL DI PANTI JOMPO DAN LANSIA YANG TINGGAL DI RUMAH BERSAMA KELUARGA DI KOTA PALEMBANG.
Introduction: Depression is a mental disorder that the elderly are prone to experience. There are many factors that can cause depression in the elderly, one of which is environmental factors, namely the place of residence that causes differences in the physical, social, economic, psychological, and spiritual environment. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in the level of depression between the elderly living in nursing homes and the elderly living at home with their families in the city of Palembang. Methods: This research is an observational analytic study using a cross sectional approach. Assessment of the level of depression in the elderly using the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) Questionnaire. Results: Based on the sociodemographic characteristics of the elderly in nursing homes, the most are age (60-74 years), female, last elementary school education, widowed marital status, recent work history not working, no family history of depression and at home with family the most is age (60 years). -74 years old), female, last high school education, married marital status, last job history not working, no family history of depression. The highest level of depression in nursing homes is not depressed, as many as 25 people (38.5%), mild as many as 31 people (47.7%), and severe as many as 9 people (13.8%), while at home with family it is not depression as many as 54 people (83.1%), mild as many as 10 people (15.4%), and severe as many as 1 person (1.5%). Conclusion: There is a significant difference in the level of depression between the elderly who live in nursing homes and those who live at home with their families in Palembang City with a value (p = 0.00) or p value
