PENGARUH LAMA PERENDAMAN EKSTRAK KAYU MANIS TERHADAP KEKUATAN REKAT BAHAN SOFT LINER PADA BAHAN BASIS GIGI TIRUAN AKRILIK
Background: Soft liner is a dental material utilized as a cushion on the surface of denture base. There are two types of soft liner, acrylic soft liner and silicone soft liner. Throughout its use on denture base, it should be cleaned with one of its method that’s chemical denture cleanser. However these chemical denture cleanser are found to give significant effect on the bond strength of soft liner to underlying denture base. Thus, the use of herbal such as cinnamon extract can be used as an alternative of chemical denture cleanser because of its bioactive compound, cinnamaldehyde that has a strong antifungal and antimicrobial. Aim: To evaluate the effect of time immersion in cinnamon extract on bond strength of silicone soft liner and heat cured resin acrylic. Method: Twenty four rectangular samples were made by sticking heat-cured resin acrylic plates with a dimension of 64 mm x10 mm x2,5 mm (ISO 1567:1988) and silicone soft liner with a dimension of 4 mm x10 mm x 2,5 mm. Samples were divided into four groups, one that was immersed in 1,5% cinnamon extract for 7 and 14 days and other that was immersed in aquades for 7 and 14 days. The tensile bond strength of each samples were examined on day 7 th and 14th after immersion. Data was analyzed using One-Way ANOVA and Post�Hoc LSD. Results: The mean bond strength recorded was found highest on aquades group for 7 days and 14 days of immersion followed by 1,5% cinnamon extract group for 7 days and 14 days of immersion.
