UJI POTENSI ANTIBAKTERI EKSTRAK DAUN KIRINYUH (Chromolaena odorata) DENGAN VARIASI PELARUT PADA Streptococcus viridans SECARA INVITRO
Kirinyuh plant (Chromolaena odorata (L.) RM King & H. Rob.) is one of the plants used as traditional medicine that has antibacterial potential. This research aims todetermine the antibacterial potential of kirinyuh leaf extract (Chromolaena odorata) and determine the values of Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Killing Concentration (KBM) against Streptococcus viridans bacteria.Kirinyuh leaf simplicia was extracted by maceration using n-hexane, ethyl acetate and ethanol as solvents. Phytochemical screening results stated thatThe n-hexane extract of kirinyuh leaves contains terpenoid and flavonoid secondary metabolites. Kirinyuh leaf ethyl acetate extract contains flavonoids. Crude extract and ethanol extract of kirinyuh leaves contain alkaloids, steroids, flavonoids, saponins and tannins. The antibacterial activity test and determination of the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) were carried out using the agar diffusion method with the paper disc technique. The results of the antibacterial activity test of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol extracts of tekelan leaves showed weak activity against Streptococcus viridans bacteria.MIC extract of n-hexane at 30 mg/mL, ethyl acetate at 30 and 40 mg/mL and ethanol at 30 mg/mL against Streptococcus viridans bacteria. The MBC of the n-hexane extract could not be determined, while the ethyl acetate and ethanol extracts were 30 mg/mL against Streptococcus viridans bacteria.
