KERAGAMAN JENIS TUMBUHAN OBAT UNTUK PENGOBATAN PENYAKIT DIABETES DI KECAMATAN INDRALAYA KABUPATEN OGAN ILIR
Diseases of metabolic disorders caused by a lack of the hormone insulin or commonly known as diabetes. Diabetes is also included in the blood sugar group that exceeds normal limits or hyperglycemia. Treatment of diabetes is usually done by consuming chemical drugs and insulin injections. However, the effects of using these chemical drugs can cause side effects, causing many people to use other alternatives by using medicinal plants. Public awareness to return to nature "back to nature" to achieve optimal health and overcome various diseases naturally. The Pegagan Tribe is one of the tribes in Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency. The Pegagan Tribe community still uses medicinal plants to treat diseases based on knowledge from generation to generation, considering that there are still many traditional healers in Indralaya District who use plants for the treatment of diseases, especially diabetes. further research is needed to determine the diversity of medicinal plants for the treatment of diabetes in Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency. This research was conducted from December 2021 to March 2022 in 17 villages and 3 sub-districts in Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency. The herbarium and plant identification were made at the Laboratory of Physiology and Development, Department of Biology, Sriwijaya University. The research method is a descriptive survey through direct interviews from the research location and field observations. The data obtained will be analyzed descriptively and then presented in the form of tables and figures. Based on the research that has been done, there are 20 types of medicinal plants used by traditional healers of the gotu kola tribe with the most habitus used, namely trees, amounting to 10 types of plants, the most organs used are leaves, amounting to 8 types of herbs.
