This study aims to determine the legal protection for the parties in the auction of agate and gemstones on Facebook. In practice, there aré still parties who default on other parties in this online auction. This study aims to find out and analyze auction arrangements specifically through social media such as Facebook, legal protection for auction organizers and buyers in agate and gemstone auctions and the concept of legal protection for auction organizers and auction buyers in future auctions. This study used an empirical normative legal research method using a statute approach, a case approach and a sociological approach. Sources of legal materials were as follows; reviewing Law no. 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection (UUPK) and Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 conceming Information and Electronic Transactions. The results of the study show that legal certainty for parties conducting auctions through social media such as Facebook has not been established. It is because the elements of the auction are not fulfilled based on the regulations and online auction transactions are committed by minors resulted in the legal terms of the agreement in Article 1320 of the Civil Code not fully fulfilled. Preventive protection is a guarantee provided by the auctioneer to the auction buyer and vice versa. Repressive protection includes the return of goods or a refund. The concept of legal protection was that online auction organizers are expected to become members of the Indonesian e-commerce association using an application that has an electronic system eligibility certificate. The goverment makes minutes of online auction points, and online auction organizers can aiso be categorized a3 auction house. From the problems mentioned above, the government is expected to update the regulations concerning auctions through social media, especially Facebook and establish an association as a shelier for tile organizers of online auctions. key words: insurance, expedition, online auction, facebook, auction buyer, and auction organizer
