The use of fossil fuels such as petroleum and coal is increasingly reduced role both in the world and in Indonesia, this is due to fossil fuel is a source of energy that can not be renewed so that the use continues to decline with a large scale reduce the fossil fuel reserves. Biomass gasification was chosen as one of the ways to utilize biomass waste into energy. Biomass gasification is a process of thermal decomposition of organic materials through the provision of a certain amount of heat with a limited oxygen supply to produce synthesis gases consisting of CO, H2, CH4. as the main product and a small amount of carbon charcoal and ash as the follow-up product, calculating the detailed energy in and out in the gasification process gets the amount of energy in and out of the gasifier with variations in the air flow rate at 3,65 kg/h. 5,18 kg/h dan 7,2 kg/h. The outgoing energy is calculated from the components of gas, tar, char, and ash in the gasification process this time used is the type of Fixed Bed downdraft Gasifier the researcher will analyze in more detail what is the amount of energy coming in from fuel and air as well as the amount of energy coming out in the form of gas, and calculate whether the energy from tar, char, and ash from the gasification process the research method is a problem-solving framework briefly describes the problem-solving stage together with the description of the literature study used as a theoretical basis in the scientific problem solver. After the topic is determined at the stage of literature studies that can support research work.Increasing the fuel consumption rate will increase the rate of energy in and out of the gasifier. any fuel mass flow rate the incoming energy flow rate is always same than the outgoing energy flow rate, the increase in the air flow rate of the gasification process will increase the total incoming mass flow rate and the total outgoing mass flow of the gasifier, Increased air flow rate the gasification process will increase the total energy flow rate in and the total energy flow out of the gasifier. where the energy losses for each air mass flow rate of 3.65 : 4.19 kW. 5.18 : 5.49 kW. 7.2 : 7.03 kW.
