STUDI EKSPERIMENTAL TURBIN ANGIN SUMBU VERTIKAL DENGAN PRE-SWIRL AUGMENTED.
This paper presents an experimental study on a vertical axis wind turbine with pre-swirl augmented consisting of a concentric stator and rotor. The rotor is located in the inner region of the turbine and is driven to spin by the flow from the stator around the center of the turbine. The stator surrounds the rotor in the outer region of the turbine, turns and accelerates the free-stream flow before it strikes the rotor. The number of rotor blades is five pieces, while the number of stator guide blades varies from zero (without guide blades), six and 12 pieces. The profile of the blades used for both the guide blades and the moving blades is a type of cambered plate airfoil modified cp-100-050-gn, which is relatively simple. Basically, this research's main objective is to prove that using a stator as a guide blade (pre-swirl augmented) on a vertical axis wind turbine can significantly improve the turbine performance. The test was carried out at an average wind speed of 4 m per second. The test results show that using a stator with six guide blades increases the power coefficient by 52%, while using a stator with 12 guide blades gives a slightly larger increase of 58%. Likewise, with the starting ability, it appears that the time required by the turbine, which uses a stator with 12 guide blades, to reach the maximum speed under no-load conditions is also shorter than that of a turbine using a stator with six guide blade
