PERANCANGAN SISTEM KEMUDI DAN SISTEM TRANSMISI KENDARAAN PROTOTYPE SAMARATUNGGA EV.
Sriwijaya eco is an energy efficient car team from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Sriwijaya University who annually participates in the Energy Saving Car Contest (KMHE), where for the next race Sriwijaya eco is designing an electric prototype vehicle. One of the components designed is the steering system and transmission system. The purpose of the design of the steering system in this study is to design a lightweight and strong steering system. The critical conditions applied in the structural strength analysis of the steering system components are the conditions before the vehicle rollovers at maximum speed and when the vehicle brakes at a speed of 30 km/h with a distance of 4 m before the vehicle stops. From the steering system design process, the total weight without wheels is 3.52 kg and from the structural strength analysis process using the Solidworks 2020 software, the most critical condition is obtained, namely the left knuckle steering component with a maximum stress of 192.4 MPa and has a minimum safety factor of 1.8. The type of transmission system used is a chain sprocket transmission system. The design process begins with determining the required traction force to resist the drag force. Then determine the torque needed by the vehicle, before finally obtaining a transmission ratio value of 4:1. From the transmission ratio, the number of small gears and large gears is 12 teeth and 50 teeth respectively.
