Aedes aegypti mosquito is one of the vectors that causes Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) which can cause death to humans. The use of synthetic insecticides is still widely practiced by the community as an effort to control the Ae. aegypti. Synthetic insecticides were chosen because of their practical application and immediate results, but it have a negative impact on the environment and health. Therefore, a new alternative is needed regarding insecticides as a substitute for synthetic insecticides such as the use of bioinsecticides. This study aimed to compare the effect of extract and bark fraction of red guava as a bioinsecticide on mortality of third instar larvae of Aedes aegypti, and to compare the LC50 value of extract and fraction of red guava stem bark. This research was carried out from January 2022 to April 2022, at the Biotechnologi Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University and at the Entomology Laboratory of the Baturaja Health Research and Development Institute. This study used a completely randomized design with 7 treatments and 5 repetitions. The procedure in this study was first to compare the extract and bark fraction of red guava (Psidium guajava L.) by testing the extract and fraction on mortality of third instar larvae of Aedes aegypti, observed that mortality was included in the % mortality formula. Second, compare the LC50 extract and the red guava stem bark fraction by analyzing existing mortality data using Probit Analysis. The results of this study revealed that the extract and active fraction of red guava bark had the ability to kill the third instar larvae of Aedes aegypti. The percentage of mortality of test larvae on the red guava bark extract was 22%, 35%, 42%, 48% and 66%, respectively, while the percentage of mortality of test larvae on the water methanol fraction were 15%, 26%, 32, respectively. %, 45% and 56%. The LC50 value of the water methanol extract of the red guava stem bark was able to kill 50% of the total test larvae was 2223.81 ppm, while the LC50 value of the water methanol fraction was 2155.27 ppm. Red guava bark contains compounds based on KLT, namely phenols, terpenoids, flavonoids and alkaloids. Keywords: Bioinsecticide, (Psidium guajava L.), Aedes aegypti.
