FUNGI ENDOFIT BUAH KABAU (Archidendron bubalinum (Jack)I.C. Nielsen) YANG BERPOTENSI SEBAGAI PENGHASIL SENYAWA ANTIOKSIDAN
Endophytic fungi are microbes that live in plant tissues that can produce the same secondary metabolites as their host plants but do not negatively affect the host plant. Kabau plants or known by the Latin name Archidendron bubalinum (Jack) IC Nielsen, are plants that have the potential as antioxidants. The results of the phytochemical examination of kabau fruit peels and seeds revealed the presence of flavonoids, tannins, alkaloids, phenols, terpenoids, steroids, saponins, and quinones. The objective of this study is to determine the characteristics and identity of the endophytic fungal isolate of kabau fruit (Archidendron bubalinum (Jack) IC Nielsen) which has high potential as a producer of antioxidant compounds, determine the antioxidant activity based on the IC50 value and determine the class of compounds produced by endophytic fungi that have the potential to produce antioxidant compounds. The research was carried out from November to March at the Microbiology Laboratory and the Genetics and Biotechnology Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. The research stages were sampling, making medium and sterilizing equipment, isolation, purification, cultivation, and extraction of secondary metabolites of endophytic fungi, qualitative test using Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), and quantitative test, TLC analysis, characterization and identification of endophytic fungi. The study concluded that endophytic fungi isolated from kabau fruit (Archidendron bubalinum (Jack) IC Nielsen) and has the potential to produce seven isolates of antioxidant compounds. The secondary metabolite extract of KBM1J2 isolates produced phenolic and terpenoid compounds with an IC50 value of 97.86 g/mL. The secondary metabolite extract of KBM4J1 isolates produced phenolic compounds, flavonoids, and terpenoids with an IC50 value of 15.47 g/mL. The secondary metabolite extract of KBTIJI isolates produced flavonoid and terpenoid compounds with an IC50 value of 86.63 g/mL. KBM1J2 isolate was identified as Colletotrichum sp., KBT1J1 as Fusarium sp., and KBM4J1 isolate as Diaporthe sp. Keywords : Kabau Plant (Archidendron bubalinum (Jack) IC Nielsen), Endophytic Fungi, Secondary Metabolites, and Antioxidants.
