POTENSI BIOMASSA CADANGAN KARBON DAN SERAPAN KARBONDIOKSIDA TEGAKAN Avicennia DIPULAU PAYUNG KABUPATEN BANYUASIN SUMATERA SELATAN
Climate change is one of the environmental problems that occur today that can harm living things. Climate change caused by greenhouse gas emissions. Efforts can be made to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, namely by reducing carbon emissions and maintaining carbon stocks and increasing carbon dioxide absorption through various forest vegetation. Forest vegetation that is able to absorb high carbon dioxide is mangrove forest. Mangrove ecosystems are ecosystems that live in coastal areas that are influenced by tides and seawater salinity. Mangrove ecosystems are known to store more than three times the average carbon per hectare when compared to tropical forests. Avicennia is the dominant mangrove in Payung Island, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra. The Payung Island area is a relatively unspoiled area. This study aims to calculate the value of biomass, carbon stock and carbon dioxide uptake and compare the value of biomass, carbon stock and carbon dioxide in Avicennia stands on Payung Island, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra. The research was carried out from November 2021 to June 2022 using direct observation and purposive sampling methods. The results showed that the biomass value in Payung Island was 8,987 tons/ha, the carbon stock value was 4,846 tonsC/ha, and carbon sequestration was 14,245 tons CO2ha. There was a significant difference (
