Heat of hydration is a problem that often occurs in concrete construction, especially in large quantities of concrete work. The high temperature of heat hydration in concrete and changes in the surrounding temperature are common reasons for thermal cracks in concrete. One way to reduce the hydration heat is by reducing the quantity of cement usage and using a material with a low rate of heat release which is in line with the concept of green concrete. By reducing some amount of cement in concrete works, it will reduce the amount of CO2 emissions that released from the cement manufacturing process. A case study was taken in this research of making concrete by utilizing fly ash waste, and waste glass powder as a substitute for 80% of cement material, as well as brick and concrete debris as a substitute for fine aggregate as a material for green concrete which will be made in four variations with the composition (OPC:FA:WGP) namely, FWB 1 (20%:80%:0%), FWB 2 (20%:60%:20%), FWB 3 (20%:40%:40%), and FWB 4 (20%:20%:60%). Based on the results of the research, it was found that the overall green concrete had a lower hydration temperature than normal concrete that used 100% OPC. Maximum temperature recorded in normal concrete is 42.1oC. Meanwhile, the temperature recorded in most of green concrete is lower than that. for the FWB 1 variation the highest temperature is recorded at 43.7oC, for the FWB 2 variation the value is 34.5oC, FWB 3 the value is 35.1oC and the FWB 4 the value is 32.6oC. The overall temperature of green concrete is below the standard set by ACI, which is below 70oC to avoid the possibility of thermal cracking. So with the concept of using waste as a substitute for cement in green concrete, it can reduce the temperature of heat hydration which is a problem in concrete work.
