ANALISIS PENINGKATAN KADAR BAUKSIT MENGGUNAKAN THICKENER UNTUK MEMENUHI KEBUTUHAN INDUSTRI REFRACTORY JENIS FIRE BRICK DALAM SKALA LABORATORIUM
Bauxite is the main ore of aluminum which is composed of several minerals, namely gibbsite, boehmite, and diaspore, along with iron oxide goethite and iron ore. One of the uses of bauxite is as a raw material for refractory bricks in the refractory industry. In the refractory industry, the bauxite feed used as the raw material for refractory bricks has a standard in accordance with SNI 15-0395-1998, namely the alumina (Al2O3) content of 60%. In general, the levels of Al2O3 contained in mining bauxite have not reached the standard as a raw material for making refractory bricks in the refractory industry, so the process of increasing Al2O3 levels is carried out by conducting research using a thickener. This study aims to analyze the quality of bauxite feed before processing using a thickener, analyze the increase in levels and recovery of bauxite processing results with processing time and fan angle variables using a thickener, and analyze the use of variable variations that produce bauxite levels in accordance with SNI 15 -0395-1998. The processing time used is 900 seconds, 1200 seconds and 1500 seconds. The fan angles used are 35°, 45°, 55°, 65° and 75°. Based on the results of the study, five experiments were obtained that met the standards according to SNI 15-0395-1998. Of the five experiments that met the standard, the highest Al2O3 content was found in the 14th experiment using a variable processing time of 1500 seconds and a fan angle of 75°, which is 62.13% with a recovery of 60.16%
