ANALISIS PENGARUH JUMLAH KIPAS PADA THICKENER TERHADAP PENCUCIAN BAUKSIT DALAM SKALA LABORATORIUM
Bauxite is a rock consisting of heterogeneous minerals with the main composition of alumina oxide (Al2O3). Bauxite as the main raw material for alumina can be obtained or extracted through mining processes carried out by surface mining and underground mining, according to the availability of bauxite itself. The Geological Resources Center data in 2014 shows the number of bauxite resources in Indonesia is 1,347,638,206.00 tons of ore and 648,479,376.00 tons of metal with reserves of 585,721,415.00 tons of ore and 239,598,060,30 tons of metal with Al2O3 content. ranged from 37-55%. So it is necessary to carry out a processing process to increase the grades of Al2O3 so, that it has economic value. In this study, to increase the levels of Al2O3 in bauxite, a thickener was used using water as the separating medium. The use of this tool is shown to increase the level of bauxite and can meet the standard for washing bauxite for industrial needs, namely with levels above 55.18%. In this study, the analysis of bauxite quality improvement through processing using a thickener with operating variables is the number of rake arm and the weight of the feed. The number of rake arms used are 2, 3, and 4 fans, while the weight of the feed used is 500 gr, 750 gr, 1000 gr, 1250 gr, 1500 gr. Based on the research that has been done, there are 3 experiments that have increased levels of Al2O3 so that it can meet the bauxite washing standard for industrial needs. The highest Al2O3 content was found in the study with variations in the number of rake arm 4 and feed weight of 1500 gr with a concentrate content of 56.26% and a recovery value of 81.17%.
