ANALISIS PENGARUH BERAT FEED, TINGGI DAN JARAK ANTAR RIFFLE TERHADAP HASIL PROSES PENGOLAHAN PASIR TIMAH DENGAN SLUICE BOX SEBAGAI SYARAT INDUSTRI SMELTER DALAM SKALA LABORATORIUM.
Tin is a type of metal with a silvery white color and luster that is not easily oxidized and is malleable. Tin in nature is not found in compound elements, but combined with other elements and mineral in the form of compunds, or commonly called tin sand. The current tin is obtained from the mineral cassiterite (tin ore) or the main mineral that found in tin sand. To obtain that tin ore, mining activities are carried out which produce Sn levels between 20 – 30%, where this level does not meet the standards for teh smelter industry which requires Sn with level up to 70%. For this reason, the processing is carried out on the tin sand feed to increase the Sn levels in order to meet the standards for the smelting industry using a sluice box. This research aims to analyze the level of tin sand before the processing, analyze the factors that affect the level and recovery of tin sand, and determine whether the results of the processing of tin sand using the sluice box in this research have met the requirements of the smelter industry. This research use operating variables of feed weight, riffle spacing, and riffle height. The feed weights used are 0.5 kg, 1 kg, and 1.5 kg. The width of the riffle used are 10 cm, 15 cm, and 20 cm. The riffle heights used are 4 mm, 6 mm, and 8 mm. Based on the research, there were seven experiments that had met the requirements of the smelter industry. The best Sn levels in this research was obtained in an experiment with variations of 0,5 kg feed weight, 20 cm riffle width, 6 mm riffle height with 70.21% Sn levels and 77.78% recovery value.
