ANALISIS PENINGKATAN KUALITAS PASIR BESI UNTUK BAHAN DASAR INDUSTRI MAGNET PERMANEN DALAM SKALA LABORATORIUM
Iron sand is sand consisting of grains of sand containing magnetic elements of iron and some other minerals, so that the amount of iron content in the grains of sand is not the same. Iron sand is one of the mining materials in Indonesia which is exploited on a large scale. Iron sand is usually found in the mountains, along rivers and is mostly found on the coast. These include along the west coast of Sumatra, the south coast of Java and Bali, the coasts of Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara, Maluku and the north coast of Papua. The use of iron sand in the permanent magnet industry has long been carried out in Indonesia. The more advanced the permanent magnet industry in Indonesia, the more iron sand that will be used. According to the journal, the permanent magnet industry requires a Fe2O3 content of 65%. The level of Fe2O3 contained in iron sand can be increased through the gravity concentration method using a sluice box. The highest concentration of concentrate was obtained in the experiment with a water flow of 31.8 L/minute, a slope of 6° and a riffle height of 4 mm by 66.43% with a recovery value of 58,61%. Meanwhile, the lowest concentration was found in the experiment with a water flow rate of 21.6 L/min, a slope of 4° and a riffle height of 8 mm of 57.46% with a recovery of 74,95%.
