ANALISIS PENINGKATAN KUALITAS PASIR BESI UNTUK MEMENUHI BAHAN BAKU BAJA TULANGAN BETON DALAM SKALA LABORATORIUM.
Iron sand is a sand deposit that contains various minerals, including the mineral hematite (Fe2O3) which is one of the materials used in the manufacture of concrete reinforcing steel. The level of Fe2O3 in iron sand used as raw material for reinforcing steel in concrete must be in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard for raw materials for making reinforcing steel, which is 60.44%. Generally, the levels of Fe2O3 contained in the iron sand from mining do not reach the standard in the raw material for making concrete reinforcing steel, so it is necessary to process the iron sand feed to increase the Fe2O3 content in order to reach the Indonesian National Standard for raw materials in the manufacture of concrete reinforcing steel. This study aims to analyze the quality of the iron sand feed before the processing using a jig tool, analyze the relationship between the jig variable on the iron sand content and recovery, and analyze the quality of the iron sand produced from the jig improvement process so that it can qualify as SNI 2052:2017 . In this study, the analysis of improving the quality of iron sand through processing using a jig with variables of feed weight, processing time, and bed thickness. The weight of the feed used is 500 gr, 1000 gr and 1500 gr. The processing time used is 6 minutes, 11 minutes, and 16 minutes. The bed thickness used is 7 mm, 12 mm, and 17 mm. Based on the research conducted, there were 9 experiments that experienced an increase in Fe2O3 levels so that they could meet the raw materials in the manufacture of concrete reinforcing steel. The highest Fe2O3 content in this study was found in the study with a variation of feed weight of 1500 gr, processing time of 16 minutes, and bed thickness of 17 mm, with Fe2O3 concentrate content of 61.23% and recovery value of 77.23%.
