ANALISIS PENINGKATAN KUALITAS PASIR TIMAH UNTUK MEMENUHI KEBUTUHAN INDUSTRI PIPA DALAM SKALA LABORATORIUM
Granite is a rock that carries the mineral cassiterite (SnO2) which is associated with acid magma and penetrates the sedimentary layer (granite intrusion). The process of forming tin ore (Sn) comes from molten magma containing the mineral cassiterite (SnO2). The tin sand content used in this study was 48,16%, while based on previous research, the tin sand content used for pipe making was at least 68.92%. In this study, the increase in tin sand content was carried out using a sluice box using water as the separation medium. The use of this tool is intended to increase the tin sand content and can be used as a basic material for pipe making. In this study, the analysis of the increase in Sn levels in the processing using a sluice box with a variable feed weight, tool slope, and riffle height. The results of the study resulted in two products in the form of concentrate and tailings which were then analyzed by grain counting to determine the Sn content of tin sand 68.92%. The quality of tin sand with the highest Sn content obtained from the results of research activities is 71.64% with a recovery value of 15,17% with a tool slope of 6 degrees, a riffle height of 4 mm and a feed weight of 0.5 kg. The lowest Sn content obtained from the results of research activities was 61.50% with a recovery value of 66,99% with a tool slope of 4 degrees, riffle height of 8 mm and feed weight of 1.5 kg. This research can be done by modifying the variables of the sluice box tool so that the results obtained are more optimal.
