Candidiasis is an infection caused by genus Candida yeast, one of the species that infect parts of the human body is Candida parapsilosis. Candidiasis treatment currently depends on the use of systemic antifungals from the azole group, but continue use can lead to resistance. One of efforts to reduce resistance to antifungals, is to search for new antifungal sources. Actinomycetes are a group of microbes that produce many active compounds, that is useful as an antifungal. Actinomycetes were chosen because their populations are widely distributed, such as in swamp soils that have a low pH and are rich in organic matter. This research was conducted from August 2021 to March 2022, in Laboratory of Microbiology, Biology Departmen, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Science, Sriwijaya University. This research was conducted to obtain Actinomycetes isolates that have the potential to produce Candida parapsilosis antifungal. The stages of the research carried out included rejuvenation of Actinomycetes and C. parapsilosis, screening for antagonism of agar diffusion method, cultivation and extraction, antifungal activity test, Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) and bioautography as well as characterization and identification of Actinomycetes with strong potential as antifungals. The conclusion from this study showed that the Actinomycetes isolates that had the ability to inhibit the growth of C. parapsilosis were 3 isolates, Streptomyces ACT 8, Streptomyces ACT 11 and isolate ACT 16. Secondary metabolite extracts of Streptomyces ACT 8, Streptomyces ACT 11 and isolates ACT 16 contained flavonoids, terpenoids and phenol. Isolate ACT 16 which has the potential as an antifungal producer was identified as a genus of Streptomyces like two other isolates, Streptomyces ACT 8 and Streptomyces ACT 11.
