Lichen is widespread in almost all types of habitats. Lichen is a symbiosis of fungi and algae, of with a morphological form of thallus and reproduced by asexually and sexually. Lichen can grow branches of Polyalthia longifolia Sonn. Diversity of can be influenced by environmental factors such as humidity, light intensity, temperature and air pollution. The excistancy of lichens is strongly influenced by air conditions. Therefore, lichen can be used as a bioindicator of air pollution, especially from transfortation polutions. Study objectives are to identify the types of lichen found in the stems of the Polyalthia longifolia Sonn. as well as to find out the type of lichen at different traffic densities. Research was carried out in December 2021 to February 2022, it was held Jl. AlamsyahRatu Prawiranegara and the Sriwijaya University Area. Identification took place in the Physiology and Development Laboratory of the Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University, Indralaya. The method used is the Cruising method, Identification of lichen is carried out with books and lichen identification sites. Data analysis is carried out descriptively and presented in the form of tables and figures. From the research conducted, 14 types of lichen with 2 types of thallus, namely crustose and foliose types. Traffic density affects the color of the lichen and the diversity of the lichen, the higher the traffic density, the more faded and dull the color of the lichen will be. In high traffic density locations, there are 3 types of lichen, 11 types of medium traffic density locations and 14 types of low traffic density. From the results obtained there are 3 types of lichen, which can be used as bioindicators of air pollution, the types of Chrysothrix candelaris (L) J.R., Chrysothrix xanthina (Vain.) Kalb and Lecidella elaeochroma (Ach) Hazsl.
