STRUKTUR KOMUNITAS MAKROZOOBENTOS DI SUNGAI ENIM KABUPATEN MUARA ENIM PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN

The Enim River is a large river located in Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra Province. The Enim River is a tributary of the Lematang River. The Enim River is widely used by the surrounding community to meet their daily needs, as well as many community activities carried out on the Enim River, therefore there may be changes in the water quality of the Enim River. Changes in water quality can be assessed using environmental bioindicators, one which is using macrozoobenthos. Macrozoobenthos are animals that usually live on the bottom of the water. Benthic animals are often used as environmental indicators because they are very sensitive to changes in the aquatic environment and easy to identify. These animals are very sensitive to changes in water quality because it can composition. This research was conducted from February to June 2022, located in Sungai Enim, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra Province. Observations and identification were carried out at the Ecology Laboratory and physiology and development, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University. Measurement of physico-chemical parameters and organic materials was carried out at the Palembang Standardization Research Institute. This study aims to analyze and compare the structure of the macrozoobenthos community which includes the composition, density, diversity index, dominance and community similarity index in three river flow segments, namely upstream flow, middle flow and downstream flow. The stages of the research carried out were sampling in the field, observation and identification and data analysis. The results obtained are the total composition of macrozoobenthos consisting of 3 phyla, 4 classes, 9 orders, 20 families and 24 genera. The diversity index ranged from 0.8-2.5. The Dominance Index ranges from 0.9-0.74. The conclusion of the study is that based on the structure of the macrozoobenthos community in the Enim River, Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra Province, it is relatively varied with the upstream part of the Enim River waters being still classified as good, while the middle and downstream parts of the Enim River waters are not classified as good due to pollution.
