Tin is one of the abundant resources in Indonesia, where its distribution along streams and plains depends on the characteristics of the soil layer, such as in the Belitung, Bangka, Kundur, Sumatra islands and on the island of Kalimantan the distribution indicates the distribution of alluvial sediments. One of the uses of tin in order to increase added value is as a manufacture of tin chemical which has a Sn content of 45%. Tin sand content before processing is 36,84%, therefore tin sand must go through a processing process first so that the Sn contained in it can meet the standards for making tin chemical. The increase in Sn content in tin sand is carried out using a pan american jig, where the separation media uses water. This study aims to analyze feed grade, analyze the factors that affect the processing of tin sand using a pan american jig and analyze the results of processing tin sand as a tin chemical product. The variables used in this study focused on the length of processing time, bed thickness and frequency of jig blows. The processing time used is 6 minutes, 11 minutes and 16 minutes. The thickness of the bed used is 7 mm, 12 mm and 17 mm. The frequency of the jig strokes used are 100 Hz, 150 Hz and 200 Hz. Based on the results of the study, there were 11 experiments that met the requirements as raw materials for tin chemical. The highest concentration obtained at 16 minutes, 12 mm bed thickness and 200 Hz frequency of stroke obtained a grade of 45.57%, with a recovery of 85.60%. On the other hand, the highest recovery of 91.34% occurred at a time of 6 minutes, a bed thickness of 7 mm and a stroke frequency of 100 Hz but had a level of 41.80%. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the longer the processing time, the thicker of bed thickness and the greater frequency of the stroke used, it will produce high levels with low recovery. Keywords : Sn grade, processing time, bed thickness, frequency of stroke.
