ANALISIS PENINGKATAN KUALITAS BATUBARA DENGAN PENCUCIAN BATUBARA MENGGUNAKAN SHAKING TABLE UNTUK MEMENUHI STANDAR ABU PENGGUNAAN BAHAN BAKAR DI PLTU (SKALA LABORATORIUM).
Coal washing is a process that aims to improve the quality of coal with the principle of reducing ash content. This research used coal samples with high ash content. A shaking table is a material separation tool that separate material from their impurities that utilizes fluid motion with a thin stream of water flowing horizontally and with the help of the table beat. This study aims to determine the effect of stroke frequency and coal grain size on the shaking table to decrease the ash content of the coal produced. Based on the results of this research, increasing stroke frequency will increase the value of ash content and coal yield, while the smaller the grain size of coal used as in sizes of 4# and 6# will result in a decrease in ash content and coal yield value, but the use of too small coal grain size as in size 8# will cause another increase in ash content and coal yield value. The results of this research were then carried out with a coal proximate test so that it was known that the best ash content was found in the eighth experiment with a stroke frequency of 60x/minute on a 6# coal grain size by 7.75% with a yield of 60.92%. In the proximate test results, it was also known that there was a change in the quality of ash content, moisture content, and volatile matter after the washing process. It can be seen that the initial ash content was 20% decrease to 7.75%, initial moisture content was 23% decreased to 18%, and the initial volatile matter was 18% increased to 22.81%. In addition, a coal calorie test was also carried out so that it was known that there was a change in the calorific value of coal where the calorific value of the initial sample was 2,972 kcal/kg and increased to 4,276 kcal/kg so that under these conditions it was able to meet the standards as fuel for Coal-Fired Power Plant.
