OPTIMUM FORMULA MASKER GEL PEEL OFF EKSTRAK ETANOL KULIT BUAH KOPI ROBUSTA (Coffea canephora) DAN UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI TERHADAP Propionibacterium acnes
The peel of robusta coffee fruit (Coffea canephora) contains various secondary metabolite compounds that are synergistically efficacious as antibacterials, especially the acne-causing bacteria Propionibacterium acnes. This study aims to determine the physical stability of the optimum formula of the preparation. Gel Mask Peel Off Ethanol Extract Coffee Fruit Peel. Gel Mask Peel Off Ethanol Extract Coffee Fruit Peel. The peel off gel mask will be formulated with variations in PVA and HPMC polymer concentrations using a Design-Expert® application with 2 levels of 5%-6% and 1%-2%, respectively. The factorial designmethod produces 4 different formulas and determines the viscosity response, pH, dispersal power, and mongering time in order to obtain an optimization formula. Phytochemical screening of coffee fruit peel extract produces positive results of flavonoids, alkaloids, phenolics. The optimum formula was obtained at PVA and HPMC concentrations of 6% and 1%, respectively. The optimum formula produces a viscosity of 4,170 cps; pH; 5,7; dispersion power 6.3 cm; and drying time 25.6 minutes. The results of the cycling test showed a increase in pH from 5.36 to 4.48. The optimum formula of the peel off gel mask preparation was tested for antibacterial activity against P. acnes bacteria by the well diffusion methodand obtained an inhibitory zone diameter of 35.00 ± 1.52 with a very strong category. The optimization formula of the preparation of the peel off gel mask has good physical stability and very strong antibacterial activity. Keywords : Peel Off Mask, Coffea Canephora , Antibacteria, Propionibacterium acnes
