The purpose of this study is to obtain the factors that have a significant effect on the functional position of the lecturer and to obtain the form of a logistic regression model. The method used is ordinal logistic regression analysis with independent variables in the field of science, tenure of lecturers, class of room, last education, age, gender, scientific journal document scores, and scientific journal citation scores. The data used is the individual characteristics of the lecturers obtained from the staffing section of the MIPA faculty, Sriwijaya University. The results of this study indicate that the factors that have a significant effect on the promotion of functional positions of lecturers are variables in the field of science, lecturer tenure, class of room, and last education. The ordinal logistic regression model formed is P(Y≤1|x_i )=(e^(-30,528+3,897x_1(1) +1,816x_1(2) +1,159x_1(3) +3,677x_1(4) +0,620x_1(5) + … +4,817x_3(7) -3,623x_4(1) ) )/(1+e^(e^(-30,528+3,897x_1(1) +1,816x_1(2) +1,159x_1(3) +3,677x_1(4) +0,620x_1(5) + … +4,817x_3(7) -3,623x_4(1) ) ) ). Based on the results of the odds ratio, the chances of lecturers with the latest education being doctoral tend to have functional positions as lectors 0.0297 times less than lecturers with the latest master's education. The level of suitability of the prediction results of the ordinal logistic regression model is 98,96%, meaning that the model used is classified as very good for predicting the functional positions of lecturers at the MIPA faculty of Sriwijaya University.
