LAJU KONSUMSI DAN PERTUMBUHAN Maggot Hermetia illucens L., (Diptera: Stratiomydae) PADA MEDIA BUNGKIL INTI SAWIT
Palm kernel cake (BIS) is one of the by-products of the palm oil industrial processing process which is abundantly available. The abundance of BIS is generally used as fodder for poultry and ruminants, but besides that, BIS can also be developed as fodder for maggot Hermetia illucens. Maggot H. illucens has now been widely developed by the community as a bioconversion agent for organic waste and as a source of animal protein with protein content that is able to overcome the high price of animal feed and dependence on imported feed ingredients. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments consisting of 6 replications. This research was carried out until the H. illucens maggot was 18 days old using 4 grams of H. illucens maggot which was 7 days old. Parameters observed were consumption rate and growth (weight, width and length) of H. illucens maggots. The treatment media consisted of P0 (400 grams of unfermented BIS, 15:1 C/N), P1 (400 grams of fermented BIS, 18:1 C/N), P2 (200 grams of unfermented BIS, 100 grams of pineapple peel and 100 grams of coconut pulp. gram, C/N 33:1), P3 (200 gram fermented BIS, 100 gram pineapple peel and 100 gram coconut pulp, C/N 38:1). Consumption rate and growth in width and height were found in treatment P2 (BIS 200 grams, pineapple peel 100 grams and coconut pulp 100 grams) with a ratio of 33:1, while the highest weight growth was found in treatment P0 (BIS 400 grams) with a ratio of C/ N 15:1.
